We are a mixed choir SATB with around 35 members and are led by our director Marc Murray.
Much of our singing takes place in Churches and Cathedrals (see the Calendar page) and in services we usually divide into two half-choirs (decani and cantoris) facing each other across the Church. The undoubted highlight of each year is a week spent singing in one of the Cathedrals of the UK while the resident choir takes a well-earned rest. This is also a holiday for us, as rehearsals and services easily fit round sightseeing trips and outings.
We perform a concert at least once a year.
We sing carols in the open air at Christmas (see our Pictures page).
We visit care homes to give a private concert.
We also sing at weddings.
Enquiries for bookings can be made through this website.
Thinking of joining us?
We always welcome new members. If our style of music appeals to you and you feel you would like to join in, please don't hesitate to contact us via the Contact page. We don't give formal auditions but you need to feel comfortable singing in harmony and coping with a relatively large repertoire. There will be an informal chat with the Musical Director after you have attended a few rehearsals.
Farewell to Michael
After founding and leading the choir for over 30 years. Michael Sands has taken the decision to retire. Many, many thanks for all you have done and best wishes for the future.
A warm welcome to Marc Murray who took up the post of Musical Director at the beginning of September 2019 and we look forward to working with him in the coming years. Our first engagement under his leadership was the weekend at Lichfield Cathedral.
Goodbye and thank you to David.
We also have to say goodbye to David Brindle and give him our thanks for being our organist for the past 10 years. He leaves the task of accompanying the choir in the capable hands of Karen Au.
